Roadmap and directions for driving to Matlabas Safaris

Directions from Gauteng

  • Take the N1 North towards Polokwane (Pietersburg)
  • Drive past the Zambesi offramp North of Pretoria
  • Take the offramp to the new N4 tollroad to Rustenburg
  • Go through two Toll gates until you reach the Brits offramp (R511)
  • Drive through Brits (Hendrik Verwoerd Ave) towards Thabazimbi
  • When you reach the T-junction close to Thabazimbi, turn right towards Thabazimbi town
  • Turn left into the R-510 towards Sentrum, just before you get to town. There is a brown sign indicating Matlabas to the left. There is a gas station on the opposite corner, it is a good idea to fill up here as there are no gas stations near the farm
  • Travel for about 30km on the R-510 (tar) until it becomes a dirt road
  • Keep on the dirt road (to Sentrum)
  • Drive very careful on the dirt road as a close encounter with game is very likely and the road can be dangerous at times, depending on the surface condition
  • After about 25km of dirt road, the road forks. Keep right towards Buffeldrift and Lephalale (Ellisras)
  • After the fork in the dirt road, you have about 35km of dirt road until you reach a tar surface again
  • When you reach the tarred section of road there will be a tar road turning off to the right within a few hundred meters
  • Turn right into the tar road towards Steenbokpan and Lephalale (Ellisras).
  • After 3km you will see the Entrance to Matlabas Safaris (M.Human) to your right.
  • On the main road into the farm you will first find the stores on your left, then the main house to your right and the road eventually runs into the main hunting camp.

The total distance from Pretoria to Matlabas Safaris is about 300km
